Moral Authority - What and Why?
Catholic moral authority is rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ and the traditions of the Church, which emphasize the dignity of the human person, the importance of community, and the pursuit of justice. This authority is expressed through the Magisterium, the Church's teaching authority, which interprets scripture and tradition to provide moral guidance on contemporary issues. It upholds fundamental principles such as the sanctity of life, the call to love and serve others, and the importance of living a life of virtue and grace. Through its teachings, the Catholic Church seeks to promote a moral framework that encourages individuals to act with compassion, integrity, and respect for the common good.
